Come learn about Socrates and the Socratic Method, a form of dialogue focusing on asking and answering questions. The Socratic Seminar is an effective way for students to improve their comprehension of complex topics and ideas, and calls on them to apply their knowledge, think critically, and reflect. Each day, campers will read a play, poem, historical document, or short story. They’ll then prepare for seminar by coming up with open-ended questions before we hold our whole-group discussion.

After a break, we’ll transition to learning about debate. Campers will be exposed to a debatable issue each day and will be given time to conduct research and form their arguments. Campers will learn about the importance of supporting their claims with evidence, using persuasive language, listening to others, as well as speaking clearly and confidently.
